Aquarium Care

• Minimum Tank Size: 50-90 gallons is recommended to provide ample swimming room and rockwork for hiding
• Habitat: Requires an aquarium with plenty of live rock to create crevices and caves for shelter, as it is a wary fish. A tight-fitting lid is essential as they are known to jump, especially when startled.
• Diet and Feeding: A varied, protein-rich diet is crucial for maintaining its health and vibrant colors. Feed small amounts several times a day with high-quality marine flake and pellet food, along with vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, or other meaty foods.
• Compatibility: They can be kept singly, in a bonded pair, or in a harem with one male and several females (introduced at the same time). They are compatible with other peaceful species like clownfish and tangs.
• Sexual Dimorphism: Males are more brightly colored and display their intense colors during courtship, with the most notable feature being their bright blue throat patch. All wrasses in this genus are hermaphrodites and start as females, with the dominant individual capable of turning into a male if needed.
